‘Clean-Off-Zone’ Entrance Flooring

Clean-Off-Zone is a unique entrance matting used either alone or incorporated in Axis, Shuttle, CoralTread and ExtraTread entrance matting systems. It is designed to remove moisture and to ‘trap’ walked-in dirt thus prolonging the life and appearance of your interior floorcoverings. This ‘trapping’ feature makes regular dirt extraction an important activity. A powerful vacuum machine with mechanically driven brushes is mandatory. This will prevent the Clean-Off-Zone becoming saturated with dirt, and consequently restricting its effectiveness.

Daily Maintenance

Vacuum thoroughly with a powerful vacuum cleaner with power driven brushes. This agitates the pile to loosen the dirt. CoralTread and ExtraTread should be cleaned from left to right i.e. in the direction of the aluminium tread rails.

Periodic Maintenance

When the matting is becoming full of dirt it must be cleaned with a water spray extraction method (either with or without detergents). With this method water is sprayed, under high pressure, into the matting and extracted together with the dissolved dirt. The water acts as a carrier for the dirt. It is important that when detergents have been used the matting is rinsed with clean water to ensure no chemical deposits are left behind.

Because of the quality of the yarns the method of manufacture and the waterproof PVC backing, the extract-cleaning method can be used frequently without loss of appearance … rather the appearance will be enhanced and the effectiveness restored.
In cases of heavy soiling, the matting can be scrubbed with a machine or by hand.

CoralTread and ExtraTread should be cleaned from left to right i.e. in the direction of the aluminium tread rails. Water temperatures should not exceed 40° and never use chemicals which contain chlorinated hydrocarbons. Only use chemicals suitable for the cleaning of carpets, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Stain Removal

Ideally the operator should be trained in stain identification and removal.

Practically all stains can be removed successfully by carpet shampoo. Follow shampoo manufacturer’s instructions. Never use chemicals which use chlorinated hydrocarbons. Agitate pile with a scrubbing action. Rinse mat with clean water.

Correct and prompt action can prevent a spill from becoming a stain.

Chewing gum can be scraped off after freezing or dissolving.

For tar, oil and grease, use methylated sprits. Always take safety precautions when using flammable liquids.

To Prolong the Life of Your Entrance Flooring

  1. Place your mat in a weather protected area as a wet mat does not work as well as a dry one.
  2. Clean regularly with a powerful vacuum cleaner.
  3. Attend to spills promptly and correctly using a carpet shampoo or mild detergent to prevent them becoming stains.
